I didn’t realize until a friend pointed out that I hadn’t really shared any pictures of the inside of our house with you all! I think I’ve subconsciously been waiting until things are a little more decorated so that I can WOW you with my impeccable design sense! However, we haven’t located our wealthy benefactor yet, so we haven’t finished our home top to bottom, but I am going to share with you what we have done so far.
I love Craftsman style homes, and our entire neighborhood is that style. This makes me smile every time I pull into our neighborhood. I love the front door, and it was one of my original favorite parts of the house because it’s so original. Also, you can see out the windows from outside, so you have visibility as to what’s going on, without people being able to completely see in your house!
When you walk in the front door, this is the view you get. This is our more formal living room. This room is home to my two fabulous thrift store finds. The goal in this room is to paint the walls a very neutral white/blue/green color so that the floors and neutral furniture stand out.
We were lucky that my dad was getting rid of this couch and gave it to us. It saved us from having an empty room downstairs. I plan to change the lamp shades on these lamps, but keep them because the bases match. At least for now. I also need to get throw pillows that match, but hey… free pillows are free pillows!
Another of our favorite things about this house was the natural light. There are several windows in every room, and we have southwest exposure so we get great afternoon/evening light. It just makes the house feel so warm and fresh.
I love the bar height table, and our bar stools (brown leather chair) work to add seating to our dining table. This is great when friends come over because we can fit everyone. Our island also seats 4 comfortably or 6 squeezing. I’m loving all of the entertaining space that we’ve got!
I’m having a hard time picking a color to paint the dining room/kitchen area. I am not a huge fan of the beige everywhere, and I like color so paint is definitely in the plans. Also, curtains. Curtains need to happen quickly, haha! We are lucky that the house had 2″ wood blinds on all the windows, so we can close them at night, but I think curtains make a space feel warmer and more inviting. Also, with the open concept main floor sound carries and I’d like to help deaden that.
That’s all for today’s home tour! I’ll be back soon with more pictures! I hope you enjoyed it, and if you have any great ideas for kitchen/dining room design email ’em to me!
